I'm buying health insurance for my family. The cheapest plan has a max out of pocket cost of $14,700 plus $5,400 of yearly premiums. It effectively costs $21,100 to have a child.

Family of four. 2100 a month premiums. 12K deductibles. Provider network so narrow good luck finding a doctor. (Yes that’s 2100 a month).
