I think his Wikipedia page must have been hijacked by the CSPI/PCRM wackos. If you read his books or watch his own videos, you come away with a different story. He loved steak.

Well I give you this one my friend. Lalande seem to been something I'd call a pescetarian. Atleast until 2003 from what year I skimmed through am interwiev on his diet. He seems have been fatphobic too.

I don't know. Anecdotes are fairly worthless, could also be genetic. Keys looked like he was 100, it is very rare for people to look fit at 100.

Hard to say, probably mixture of many things populationwise. Lalande atleast believed excercise was no.1. I too believe in importance of keeping good amount of muscle mass as long as possible.
