Some problems get worse the longer they are not expressed. For example, the longer without an earthquake or forest fire, the worse we should expect the next one to be. What other important problems are like this, so that we should worry about suppressing small versions?

- Quantitative easing (printing money to minimize the effect of a recession, eventually resulting in total loss of confidence in the currency). - Emotion, i.e. some problem with your spouse. The longer it goes without being addressed, the bigger the blowup.
- Discontent with government. "The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants. It is its natural manure." America is good about this. Middle east, not so much.
