My trip to Cambodia: “Without us Chinese coming here and creating jobs for them, the Cambodians would only have a mango a day to eat,” a Chinese businessman said to me. “They are so backward.”http://www.chinafile.com/reporting-opinion/viewpoint/see-they-are-so-happy-our-generosity …

I don't understand the point of this article. Cambodia is certainly better off with Chinese FDI. The Chinese are right. They are creating jobs. Yes, they do stupid shit like dump sewage into rivers, but China has better record of governance in Cambodia does than Cambodia.

You are right. "They are creating jobs" for low skilled Chinese workers who come from China & do jobs Khmers should be doing but are not because the Chinese are doing them.

Perhaps in construction there is some of this, but you're wrong about this in other industries. Chinese factories relocate to Cambodia to hire Cambodian workers. Or do they import Chinese to Cambodia for that too 😂

The supervisors in garment factories are mostly Chinese. Many of the factory workers themselves have moved to Phnom Penh after getting their land grabbed by the Hun Sen Regime then doled out as Special Economic Zones or Economic Land concessions to China etc.pic.twitter.com/FmxrlrrWqH

          1. I buy products from a factory in Cambodia where the supervisor is Cambodian. 2. The supervisors always start out as foreigners because the locals don't know what they're doing until they are trained.
