I think IKEA has a weird corporate structure where it’s actually owned by the family’s non-profit foundation, so may be non traditional economic reasons for the decision like avoiding dealing with the IRS or something

It's hard to say. Some general thoughts on Ikea: 1. Go to the store, you will find products made in every single country. I think they do this for political reasons (as they have stores in almost every country) 2. Maybe America is a free economy that doesn't need this.
