This is what success in startups is like: Suppose, in order to succeed, you need to go from A to Z. Generally, when you start out, you assume that success will be something like A to D. In other words, 3 steps instead of 25.
Sometimes, you're trying to go somewhere, and you see something better along the way with fewer steps in between where you're at and success.

I'm sure this makes no sense to people who've never tried to create a company but this is really what's it like. You kind of just blindly probe around until you get somewhere, but the longer you do it, the more you know the territory and the better you get.
