True, but this is a situation where the obvious candidates are likely to. AFAIK, ML/AI is something that needs HUGE DATASETS in order to build good, useful products. Therefore Google, Microsoft, Amazon etc. are the likely winners. Google has most data.
Yeah, in new fields, it's usually the upstarts, but I think this is a rare exception. Suppose hyperloops were the next big thing. I think it would be fair to assume that Siemens or the makers of the shinkansen would be likely to capitalize. I think it's analogous.
