Who knows what China will be like? I'd rather not know.
First, economies are not zero-sum. China's economy, ceteris paribus, surpassing ours, might improve life in the United States. That said, notwithstanding our wars in the Middle East the U.S. has a pretty solid record as a benevolent hegemonic power.
