It's a cool idea and I would hope someone somewhere is trying to make this happen. Like, you could create a YouTube competitor by using distributed hard drives of users + bandwidth, etc. Already happens with Torrents, it just needs a better front end.
The thing about this stuff is that it may never be created because of the weak profit incentive. Someone approached me with a distributed coop marketplace. Unless you break with the mission, it's hard to make money. If you have the technical chops to do it, find another idea.
