When you start a company at 45, the stakes are much higher, given that you most likely have a family. You're not only more selective but experienced and this more likely to be successful.
Yeah true. I guess my point is its not easy to tell how much of this effect is due to people learning from experience and selection. And when you want to apply this rule to yourself only the experience part matters.
As in should i keep trying until im 50 even if im unsuccessful? If its all experience yes, if its all selection no. The answer is in between.
There's a selection bias in the opposite direction. People who are already successful, assuming you believe entrepreneurship is a skill, before 45 will be less likely to start a company later, given that they already have a successful one. There are a lot of different factors
As you said, there's no reason to look at this generally. Just look at it as your samplesize of 1.
Maybe it would still be possible to do a cohort analysis. Like follow a group of young entrepreneurs throughout their lives.
Meh, just ask successful and failed ones. Read between the lines. Much easier, faster, and better.
