5. Find people who are better than you are at what you want to learn! In this particular instance, it would be much appreciated if such a person would appear and tell me how to learn. That'd make this easier. 6. Find books on the subject!

[But how do you find the right books? Suppose I wanted to learn finance. There are so many books out there that would teach me the wrong things! Books by operators with skin in the game? Usually their just self/business-marketing. Ugh!]

7. Stay humble young grasshopper. If you think you have learnt it all and you're right, well that's cool, but also pretty unlikely. Keep an open mind to learning new things and you will.

8. Go to your limits! Increase your mind's endurance (A), its maximum computational capacity (B), its flexibility (C), and its creativity (D)! Do A until your mind is tired. Multiply 32x981 in your head until you get it (B). Argue for a position that you disagree with (C).

But, D! How do we become more creative? What is creativity? Sometimes it's noticing a synergy, or applying a concept in one field to another where it is not typically applied. How do we channel that?

This is a superstition of mine not a proven theory. I think creativity comes from a lot of random impulses (breadth first search, vs rigors/skepticism depth first search). Expose yourself to sensory stimulus, weird little bars/cities/lush nature/alt music.

Some things I've noticed: 1. Helps to have less sleep 2. Helps to have just done something like a run which increases your dopamine 3. Creativity is noticing, not necessarily solving. Anytime you say to yourself "hey, that's weird" or "Whoa" dig deeper

1. This is super harmful for other things though. I can't think or work if I'm sleep deprived. 2. It does give you more energy and maybe that translates to creativity somehow. 3. Yeah that's kind of what i meant above.

1/2 I think a big part of this is that you need to be a little stupid/irrational/overconfident in order to allow yourself to see connections where they may or may not be.

Yeah and then you test them. So I think the question is what's the ideal ratio between the 2 things (creativity/imagining and testing/skepticism). Maybe 1:6 (if you divide a week).

This is one of the biggest tensions in life. Continuing to work on what has already been fruitful vs. new ideas.
