I am confused that religion doesn't generate relationships.
It does, but weakly. Being religious by itself doesn't. It's more the activities associated with it, such as going to church or temple. I'm sure we could think of some religions that lack a social component, perhaps some Buddhism?

Makes sense. I understand there are looser connections that fall below the levels of significance for arrows (Children are potential caretakers, or even donors for their parents). My belief is that the communal aspect of many religions is being underappreciated here.
