Does anyone know of studies that show that it is fasting in general, instead of fasting of mice chow, that increases longevity? Perhaps mice chow causes short lifespans because mice are not built to eat it and if they were given abundant natural food they'd live longer?

There was a monkey study done on calorie restriction. Monkeys given standard feed, more like the standard American diet, saw life extension with calorie restriction. But monkeys with a healthier diet saw no life extension and, if I recall correctly, maybe a decrease.

So in other words, health diet monkeys eating regularly we're seeing lifespans about as long as unhealthy diet monkeys which were fasting?
