Nuclear energy scares me. It doesn't seem to follow Newtonian physics. With that said, with enough experience with the technology, humanity can probably control the risks. Fortunately there are a lot of places we could safely build nuke plants, and much better designs than the horror shows like Chernobyl. Or build thorium reactors instead. Much more abundant and far less harmful waste. The tech is further behind - there wasn’t a lot of interest in developing it since you didn’t get the exciting byproduct of plutonium for weapons. Meaning better nonproliferation with thorium, too.
