I’m getting the impression from scanning through comment over the last several days, that many people conflate the following two beliefs: “Veganism is stupid/wrong/etc” with “Vegan as a business is stupid, will fail”https://twitter.com/qz/status/1113297624780685314 …

I have not made opinions shy on the former question - that veganism (not to be confused vegetarianism, which I respect) seems actually harmful to human health and wellness absent a strict regimen of daily man made supplements - on the former though? No opinion.

I think you mean the latter. There are many businesses that are stupid, such as tobacco, but economically viable. In the long-run, I don't think veganism is such a business. People are vegan as they think that 1. It's good for their health 2. It's good for the environment.

1 is false. 2 is probably also untrue, but it's not as clear. Once the word gets out veganism will be viewed, I expect, as a comical "what-were-they-thinking" fad, perhaps in the same way we look at leeches in medicine.
