One of those two might just be possible
Someone who works for me managed to learn a bit of engineering type stuff (complicated google sheets formulas) after coming from a non-technical marketing background, but in general this definitely works easier the other way around (assuming no autism).

I don't really understand why so many people's brains just seize up on technical problems, but even slightly aspie engineers do have some experience acting like a human being

For a lot of people, it's just a confidence issue. If you give them the confidence to try comp sci or other technical shit, they can handle it.
