All this talk got me thinking about how the world's greatest manufacturing nation, Japan, doesn't make civilian aircraft! It seems like they never got into it as a result of their WW2 legacy. They were prohibited from building planes that could be used to rearm the country.

Really? Didn't know that! I'm a complete amateur on planes. A national embarrassment for Japan is an outstanding outcome in the USA, though, no? Boeing and Airbus planes get delayed as well.
