People used to say Amazon was a business that had to drive out competition then raise prices to be profitable. But that business is actually ridesharing.

Sorry that's tl;dr. I know that Amazon's 3rd party business prints money, but it would be like that if it didn't have such tremendous market share (50%+ in relevant categories) imho.
