我会说一点点中文,我觉得我能完全学习普通话可是我没有机会。 另外,我的看法,语言不是你说的问题。中国的文化又很不一样又给西方人问题。 Sorry if that's not clear, but basically I disagree. Even if you understood mandarin perfectly, as a westerner, you would get burned a bunch.
Also, even if you understood the culture and the language perfectly, as a non-Chinese, you still will get stared down periodically by the older generation. They'll look at you with disdain from time to time, depending on where you are.

Let me put it this way: maybe it's not their not learning mandarin that is directly the problem. It's just that, if you cannot learn mandarin, you lack the mental flexibility and intelligence to understand and appreciate a foreign culture.
