Consider $AMZN as a #monopsony see @Bfklin tweet. Does monopsony power fall under Sherman antitrust law? idk but it is a thought. For more on Amazon seller power, seehttps://www.seattletimes.com/nation-world/amazon-antitrust-critic-has-her-own-critics-now/ …

for manufacturing to become more local and break the subsidizing, FX fixing of China and any other actor that is subverting natural balancing trade of Ricardian economics. My view. /end.

I'm pretty sure we are far from the cusp of automating the jobs you listed. Just recently, the CEO of waymo expressed his skepticism that selfdriving cars would ever be able to work in the rain for example. No robot has human dexterity nor our vision, far from it.

I saw the Waymo exec comments. That remains to be seen. But it's not binary. Technology can make truck driving so low skill that the labor pool becomes large driving wages down.

I think the threshold for driving a truck is low enough. Maybe what self driving cars could do as an intermediary step is have a human drive around the city (and unloading) and the truck do the city to city highway driving.

Not that I'm a logistics expert, but your driving record is very important in truck driving work. I would think technology will improve accident records increasing pool. I agree with you. Human can sleep and work more. The tech human interaction will be one to watch.

Actually I'm thinking that the human doesn't need to be in the truck while on the highway. Basically after doing the city driving that could get off the truck and let it drive away until the new city driver takes over.

No doubt, that's a cool video, but afaik, it's not a practical product. Like most Boston Dynamics videos, it needs 100 takes and the perfect conditions to be productive. Unlevel ground, dirt, plants irregularly planted, the elements etc all defeat the machine, migrant labor, no.

Not all automation (i.e. how M&Ms are made or plastic bottles), but yeah it seems close but people have been saying that for decades. We shall see!

I have been saying manufacturing is decades away because there are things machines do well, and humans do well, and the complimentary job is the best as far as quality and economics. Tesla has shown. Service jobs are simpler. Automation closer. Office has been underway for awhile
