I think Amazon is a monopoly. In the past, government solved this by breaking up the monopoly into regional powerhouses or breaking the business into un-vertically-integrated parts. With this said, I don't think Amazon's business structure lends itself to this. Ideas?
I think the threshold for driving a truck is low enough. Maybe what self driving cars could do as an intermediary step is have a human drive around the city (and unloading) and the truck do the city to city highway driving.

Not that I'm a logistics expert, but your driving record is very important in truck driving work. I would think technology will improve accident records increasing pool. I agree with you. Human can sleep and work more. The tech human interaction will be one to watch.

Actually I'm thinking that the human doesn't need to be in the truck while on the highway. Basically after doing the city driving that could get off the truck and let it drive away until the new city driver takes over.

One other development to watch are neural nets per Elon where input output happens more naturally with electrodes. Could optimize human and machine work.
