Consumers are increasingly mistrustful of reviews on Amazon. Will a new company (or an old champion) rise to recapture e-commerce search? Or perhaps Amazon, who is working like crazy to solve this problem (which they themselves caused) figure it out.
Were reviews ever particularly useful? I don't remember, but I mostly know exactly what I want to buy before I get to Amazon. Amazon reviews are still wildly better and more useful than any other online retailer, however. Check out Home Depot or Walmart or Harbor Freight...
I think they were. Today, there are many non-branded options of the product you want to buy on Amazon (usually at lower prices than the brand you have in mind). Once upon a time, reviews were useful in sorting out which were good or bad.
