1) Scale is not really much of an issue with online commerce. Why? Spotify, the cloud, email, text, etc. While scale will lower some marginal costs, this is not the #1 problem facing online marketers.

3) Also, the young marketers have no clue on what it means to develop relationships with media owners. Developing relationships with media owners in your vertical can reduce risk

Agree that scale isn't the most important thing to address, but disagree that it's not important. Younger e-commerce entrepreneurs are pretty oblivious to a lot of the tactics you use (I was), but we do know how to use influencers on instagram - that's media in our vertical no?

Instagram is not a vertical, it is a platform. As for scale, you can do $25,000 a month and make money if you employ sound economics. Customer acquisition can be cut dramatically by partnering. If you sell pet supplies, partner with pet content sites...

The best deals are not just on the first sale, but subsequent sales from remarketing to the database. This allows you to pay less up front so you can make real money and your partner will make money over the long run as well.
