This isn't quite analogous to Google being banned in china. First, valve doesn't exactly have an active direct presence in China. DotA 2 IA distributed, per Chinese law, by perfect world, a local partner. Second perfect world and valve are only now trying to get steam in china.
What I'm trying to say is that while DotA 2 may be huge in china, it's not clear how huge valve is and thus they may be willing to fight more than let's say apple has. Also that Henrik ahnberg is quite the personality...not sure he's representative of much.
