What are some big, concentrated bets you remember? What (if anything) was the investor's edge? Thinking of situations like Buffett buying into GEICO 76, Soros/Druckenmiller shorting the pound, Tepper loading up on financials in early '09

Mark Cuban— Dallas Mavericks. Saw multiple ways to win: scarce asset pushing value up, TV rights re-pricing, global interest increasing, etc.

Do you know how much he invested as a share of his net worth?

Actually, I didn’t properly answer your question as it appears that his $285M Mavericks purchase in 2000 was only about 5% of the $5.7B he received for his http://Broadcast.com interest. Still, it ended up being a great bet.

I think cuban only had 30% of the company. So he had 1.71 billion, 1.36 after taxes. So it was about 17% - pretty impressive. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Broadcast.com …
