Working at a FANG type co. the last 10 yrs has come with: 1) Top tier salary & equity grants 2) Excellent stock returns & liquidity 3) Best-in-class benefits 4) Interesting scale problems to work on & gain thought leadership 5) Excess capital to deploy into crypto & angel dealshttps://twitter.com/justinkan/status/1055483336578097152 …
Yeah, but at the same time, working at a FANG company has meant an incredible rise in cost of living which dampers #5 and to some extent explains @justinkan 's gripe.

It will be interesting to see how the rise in the cost of living drives adoption of distributed work which could actually be a catalyst to more innovation as critical mass of engineers realize they can stay in low cost cities, start meeting each other IRL, and start side projects

I'm not sure work can be distributed. There's no good substitute for a face to face conversation packed with enthusiasm over your team's new product. Also, distributed works much worse for hardware.
