Any insight on labor efficiency for Filipinos, and where they rank?

Not from them and I have never dealt with Filipinos in a manufacturing capacity (what we were talking about), only in design and in administrative. From what I know, I'd be that Filipinos are somewhere around Cambodians in terms of their labor efficiency.

Makes sense - the manufacturing sector in the Philippines isn't as developed as that of its services industry.

I'm reading this book called "How Asia Works" by Joe Studwell that attempts to explain why the Philippines is well behind Taiwan, Japan, and South Korea. It talks a lot about land reform (or lack thereof) in PH and the corruption of the Arroyos, Aquinos, and others.

Thanks for the recommendation -- I will check it out! Always fascinated me why the archipelago hasn't developed as well as its East Asian neighbors.
