      We should also move away from the idea that a single metric (e.g. IQ) can capture ecological rationality. In nature/evolution there are tons of successful strategies. It could be better to have less IQ points but have a better social network, or found more startups etc.

      We're not designed to survive as a single organism. We're designed to survive as a species. If everyone had a 130 IQ, I'm not sure how we'd function. We're on a bell curve for a reason.

          Not sure about either. There is a long debate about whether we are designed to survive as species or individuals. And bell curves exists for purely mathematical reasons, no need for an evolutionary argument to explain them. My point is one attribute can substitute for another.

          Agree that distribution is a property of measurement not of survival capacity. However, we did evolve cooperatively. Neanderthals were more loner and did not fare well (assimilated and extinct). Anthropology has long credited our survival in large part to cooperation
