A lot of people want to paint this as the power of privilege (fraternity dues can be expensive), but, I don't think that's right. Second, at many schools, not joining a fraternity basically means you struggle socially (for a whole host of reasons). Intelligence is important in success, but so is being able to socialize and get along with others.

Finally, and I'm not alone in this, you learn more about life in the fraternity than you do in class. So, yeah, if you're in a fraternity you're probably a straight white guy, but there are other reasons why fraternity membership correlates with success.
