For eyes, you can start with a few cells or an area that is sensitive to light. For ears, you can start with an area sensitive to vibrations. For walking, you can start with an appendage that pushes. But, unless you're born with it, how do you get a frictionless axle and wheel?
Does anyone understand why no species evolved to directly have wheels? I feel like it is because there are no intermediary steps between having and not having wheels.
