Being active on social media increases the variance of your life. It enhances the likelihood of both extremely good (connections, sales, renown) and extremely bad (accusations of racism, self-incrimination, alienation) outcomes.

Agreed. Unfortunately, even if you're careful, you can still get in trouble because what you write can be misconstrued. And of course, the more careful you are, the less fun it is to be active.
