Maybe you mean to say the edge is smaller than thought by Trump trade policy supporters? There is a definite edge: 1. Worlds reserve currency 2. Larger economy 3. We buy more from them than they buy from us 4. What we buy from China is discretionary, what they buy is needed

I.e. computers vs food 5. We are better allied with their other trading partners ... On the flip side: 1. They control their media 2. More Chinese people know hardship than Americans 3. No democracy

Impossible to get it all, certainly possible to get some. The tricky matter is how to get compliance after the promise.
