Seems like more and more restaurants are switching to a single order point and multiple busboys with no tipping. Seems like the better, cheaper, and more customer friendly way to do it.

Sort of. You're still given the "opportunity" to tip pre-meal and if you're a sucker you do it. American tipping culture is a ridiculous Nash equilibrium.
