I think so, yes. Amazon mints money on it's marketplace. They take a ~15% cut of a huge chunk of all retail sales and that 15% is just their commission for having a product on Amazon.
I don't see Amazon's building of fulfillment centers and painting prime on a few planes or pretending to do drone deliveries to be more of an undertaking than what Windows (the world's OS), Rockefeller (oil refining is hard and cap-intensive), or Telemex (building towers), did.
