Were Larry and Sergey ever the richest men in the world? As far as I can tell, the only counter examples I can find are Armancio Ortega and Warren Buffet (who's basically an owner of many little monopolies)

I did not read your tweet as pertaining only to #1's. Sam Walton like Buffett w many little monopolies. I don't know what the Walton fam adds up to now.

I definitely could've written it better. Walton had monopoly in many little towns (until Amazon!).
