To maximize money made, go 100% equities or none at all. Live next to the office or far from it. Have a career or be an entrepeneur, but don't mix. Drive a Honda or a BMW. Live in a nice part of town or a ghetto.

Life is an optimization problem. And like an optimization problem, you maximize, most likely, at the extremes i.e. 0,0 or 0, infinity, or -infinity, -infinity.
