There is one thing that is deeply disconcerting about the conflict with China. Both the U.S. and China think they are the greatest country in the world. The American rationale is based on concepts and ideas like freedom, meritocracy, the melting pot etc.
The Chinese on the other hand, believe that China is the greatest nation on earth because of the greatness of the Chinese Han people and the superiority of Chinese culture. As everyone knows the former hubris has done much less damage than the latter.
