Since measuring routine waist/height ratio on all patients the comment from a fellow Gastroenterologist was "We would not have much work to do if we excluded patients with a waist/height ratio of < 0.5" Insulin resistance is a very large Elephant in the room of chronic disease
Shouldn't this read excluded patients with waist / height ratio > .5? Or "we were excluded to patients with waist / height ratio < .5" Basically I think you're trying to say that the obese account for most gastro morbidity but it's not reading like that.

Yes, you are correct, I realized just after I sent it, but your brain doesn't see it until its to late. Only about 10% of patients have waist/height < 0.5, and when measured in "non-diabetics" > 50% have IR as measured by HOMA-IR (RR < 2)pic.twitter.com/xD1qO9NarV

Fwiw, I had such a low waist to height ratio but had gastro problems until I stopped eating certain foods. I suspect that a lot of "Crohn's" for which intestines are often removed can be cured by simple diet changes.
