They just look elsewhere for a hosting solution, realise they have no natural right to be paid by anybody for their content & decide whether posting videos can be made profitable or remain a ‘passion project’ for them. This was too much for the persian vegan bodybuilder woman.

It’s actually why I’d prefer to see the ad-supported model be the minority funding model for popular, viewer-desired content. The closer paying supporters are to the content creator (less overhead, censorship, dilution etc), the better. cc:

Obviously we agree on this - I believe viewer supported (not advertiser supported) content along with decentralization of distribution is the best answer. It'd be nice if YouTube might reconsider some of their recent decisions too, though. :)

I think part of it is that @TeamYouTube is owned by a publicly traded corporation, and while obviously platforms like Youtube are the way of the future they're not allowed to act like it because they are beholden to risk-averse shareholders who don't understand the medium.
