Apple said my customers broken screen was a logic board issue. They wanted $570 and 2 weeks to “fix it”. Took me 1hr and $350. But on the new M1 MacBook Pro’s, I can’t do this repair cause 🍎 won’t give us access to the calibration software. #RightToRepair

The $200 #DualSenseEdge. Still using potentiometer joysticks that are prone to drifting. At this price point, I think its safe to put the "hall sensors cost too much" argument to rest.

Sob story in the WSJ about how LG and Whirlpool can't get customers to keep their appliances connected to the internet so they can "create new revenue opportunities."
Oh no how horrible!

Now 2 years old, this tiny miracle is the 12MP, 4K capable TrueDepth sensor from the iPhone 12 Pro. 20 years ago I had a Razr with a 2MP camera.
With every product release I'm tempted to upgrade my Note 9. Perspective is important, my Note 9 also has a nifty camera. It's enough.

A work of art. No idea if this is meant to be humorous or if its functional but I'm digging the diy styling.

How many of you out there would like a 2-year-old M1 MacBook? Well, too bad, because your local recycler just took out all the Activation Locked logic boards and ground them up into carcinogenic dust. #righttorepair

A great job by covering the ongoing travesty of #Massachusetts voters having their votes cancelled by automakers, who have for 2 years blocked an automotive #righttorepair law that 75% of MA voters approved. Justice delayed is justice denied!

We covered #WorstInShow but lets also draw attention to the few gems at #CES2023. OneThird.io have a plan to reduce the massive amount of food waste in our supply chains. No prizes for guessing why they're called OneThird:
According to Time Magazine, "the average person produces about 7 metric tons of CO2 annually...[but] celebrities have emitted an average of more than 3,300 metric tons from their private jets alone so far this year." That 490x what an average person emits. 4/

Just changed my wife’s battery in her old iPhone for a new one. Battery cost me roughly $15 and took about 40 minutes using my tools. I’m just happy that I was able to open and repair it and not replace the whole phone. #RightToRepair

Olivia's take is closer to how I understand this than headlines which read that Deere has now approved Right to Repair somehow.
Deere has long held that it supports Right to Repair with caveats. Those caveats still remain, though appear to have at least dwindled. 1/ twitter.com/oliviasolon/st

But don't take my word for it. From 's excellent article on personalised vitamins and quoting Prof Margaret Rayman on the benefits of said vitamins: "It all looks bullshit."
Folks, just eat a fucking carrot and call it a day.

For just $50 a month, UK based Nourish3d will 3D print a multilayered concoction of "fresh" vitamin paste to address the various skin "issues" detected by Neutrogena's Skin360 AI.
There are problems abound with this particular product, most of which scream "SCAM!".

This law passing is both a huge step forward, and a disappointment at the same time. The last-minute changes were a blow to an otherwise good start to Right to Repair legislation. But the bill becoming law at all is a good thing.
