I will be checking this tool out though. I just want youtube to stop overwriting my formating because they can.

Aegisub is free, but you may be limited by what Subrip (.srt) files can do. Subrip has no formatting options for color, bold, italic.”, alignment or position.

Some few video players claim to support formatting on Subrip files, but YouTube is not one of them.

I’ll have to boot up Windows 10 on my Mac when I get home to see what options it has. If there’s a program that can do CEA-608 captions that would probably be your best bet. It can format for color, bold, italic, left or right alignment (l/r is great for two speakers).

Unfortunately

I’ll have to check SubtitleEdit when I get home, but I know SCC has a limitation of 128 characters per line, and has a smaller character set than Subrip.
