    Here is a question I really struggle with: Why do Americans have a higher tolerance for COVID killing us, a higher tolerance for guns killing us, and a higher tolerance for our neighbors being hungry than citizens from virtually every other country?

    When we remove monuments or statues to a sanitized history, it’s easier to be honest with ourselves about our past.

    When people hear “rural”, they think “white”, and when they hear “urban”, they think “Black". We know from our travels that that’s not true. Investment in rural America is a good thing, especially in the South. It’s an investment in people of color.

    The Mississippi home of slain civil rights leader Medgar Evers is now a national monument. Evers was gunned down in his driveway on June 12, 1963, during the height of the civil rights movement. He was 37 years old.
