fwiw my parents didn’t see much in the way of racial diversity until they came to this country, and their friend group was/is racially diverse, but they never brought up structural oppression that didn’t affect them/me specifically.

well, my dad’s friend group, at least. my mom is an asshole with no social skills & who can’t make friends on her own.
