had a nightmare la at night that one of my tenured friends got fired after some band of internet assholes brigaded her employer for shit she never said or did, and it was TERRIFYING. not bc aCaDeMiC fReEdOm but bc how was she gonna pay her mortgage? give her family healthcare?
should she sell the house? where will she go? can she get a new job before fall? in the same city? how will she eat until then? can she still use her email address? should she start selling her shit? move in w her parents after ~30 years? hey but what about tenure? 
anywho people who contact employers over made-up nonsense (as opposed to, say, actual abuse) either don’t consider these things bc they’re privileged fucks who’ve never had to worry about them or *do* consider them and are trying to extinguish you. :)
btw, the stupid thing that my friend was accused of doing was saying the word “fuck” on tv, which isn’t a fireable offense afaik. riddle me that, psychoanalysts!
