When did it become so difficult to adopt a cat? Last time I walked in the shelter and left with a cat in a box, no questions asked

That seems odd. I’m guessing they’re making adoption difficult bc so many ppl have been returning animals?

Could also depend on where you’re going to adopt. Where I adopted my cat probably couldn’t care less about checking on me as an adopter, but the city my dogs came from would likely do a home check. Maybe see if you can check around for a more lax place.
