Fwiw I still don’t center whiteness in my teaching, which is probably why I keep getting these angry little fuckers reporting me to the college for “racial discrimination against whites” 
I was accused of this once in an email. Said student also wanted to speak to "my manager." I gave the student my chair's office number and email address. It re-affirmed my belief that most white students are too fragile to study anything put into historical and social context.

For me it was exceptionally frustrating and discomforting, and I'm sorry you've had to go through something similar multiple times.
S A M E. I have to be vigilant with some students because their white male fragility can turn violent so very quickly, but that doesn’t stop me from being open and honest about things in our industry and the world.
