Anyone got any good MICE GO HOME! tips until I can get a hold of the exterminator? I’ve just been playing a lot of Blondie and hoping that’ll spook ‘em…

Sonic things don’t work. Put all foods in mouseproof containers, which usually means airtight glass jars. 5 gallon paint buckets are mouseproof in the short term if you have bigger or oddly sized things. Find entry points and seal them with steel wool & expanding foam.

They make one of those expanding foam things that is mouseproof now, it’s like the regular stuff but has sand or metal particles in it that makes it chewproof. It’s a war of attrition w food and water sources.

Old fashioned snap traps work best for stragglers. Poison creates resistance in rats & mice, they get too smart to eat it, they do eat it and then whatever cat or dog eats them dies of secondary poisoning, and/or they die in your walls and create a stink.

In apartments we rarely have the power to de-rodent a whole building but you can make your unit as unappealing as possible.

Also, if you’re bringing in a cat as a deterrent/catcher, make sure the animal is vaxxed for leptospirosis. And wear mask and gloves when cleaning droppings/urine trails. Lepto is nasty.
