Have your parents ever “helped” with your finances (e.g., paid your rent, sent you an allowance, covered certain bills)?

My mother, had me pay rent at 20 during college as a "lesson" and not as contributing to affording where we were living, would, when I came up short (cause I payed my own college, car insurance and gas from a <28hr a week job) would tell me to pawn my things instead of help.

Yep. My guitars, my dead fathers gold necklace, his 35mm film camera. The list goes on. My "rent was 200+part of utility. I was making like 200-300 every 2 weeks, and had to pay all my school expenses and gas and what not. Instead of offering to waive the unnecessary "rent".
