a week late, my take on #MareofEastown: it did its prestige TV duty w/ complex performances & compelling story threads. It also captured particularities of low-income small town life really well. Biggest critique was the ep where sex workers talk to cops. Egregiously unrealistic.

yeah the 'everyone knows everyone' thing makes it slightly more realistic, but it feels irresponsible. (I mean obvi the whole show is a cop protagonist so like
but that specific thing feels like a particularly dangerous myth that doesn't help decrim efforts.) -
