    Every day tragic incidents play out for people transiting through Central America & along the US border. In 2019, we recorded more migrant deaths in Latin America than in any other year & yet there are still uncounted cases.

  6. On June 23, the remains of Briseyda, a 20-year-old woman from Guatemala, and her 18-month-old baby, Denilson, were found in the brush just north of the Río Bravo outside McAllen, Texas, along with the remains of two other children, 20-month-old Marleny and 3-year-old Juana.

  7. Behind each record is a human story: last March 7, Vilma, a 16-year-old Guatemalan, died in a vehicle accident in Chiapas, Mexico. She decided to migrate when her father became ill & her income selling flowers couldn't cover his medical costs. 24 women & men died in the crash.

  20. Reina's nephew, Álvaro Emilio, disappeared in November 2000 while crossing the US-Mexico border. He left Honduras when he was just 15 years old. Reina joined the Caravan of Mothers of Missing Migrants when her sister, Álvaro's mother, asked her to go in her place.
